About Me


Laura Sobbott Ross is the author of three poetry collections and two chapbooks. Her poems have been featured on Verse Daily and have appeared in Meridian, 32 Poems, Florida Review, Blackbird, Main Street Rag, National Poetry Review, and elsewhere.

She was named the inaugural poet laureate of Lake County in Florida. Literary prizes and awards are as follows: 2022 Bedford Competition, Finalist; 2021 International Poetry Contest for the Atlanta Review, Merit Award; 2019 Richard Snyder Publication Prize, Finalist; 2019 Washington Prize at the Word Works, Semi-finalist; 2017 Southern Humanities Review Auburn Witness Poetry Prize, First Place; 2017 Public Poetry Contest, Finalist; 2016 Anzaldua Poetry Prize, Finalist; 2016 Arts&Letters Poetry Prize, Finalist; 2015 Cape Cod Cultural Center Poetry Prize, Finalist; 2015 Tusculum Review Poetry Chapbook, Finalist; The Ledge Poetry Award 2013, First Place; YellowJacket Press Chapbook Contest for Florida Poets 2011, First Place; Thomas Merton Poetry of the Sacred Contest 2011, Honorable Mention; Creekwalker Poetry Prize 2008, Finalist.

She has worked as a teacher and a writing coach in Florida.
